Greetings to the Brothers of the Mighty Sixth District:
May the Supreme Basileus of the Universe hold you warmly in his loving arms and bless you abundantly.
I take this first media opportunity to thank the Brotherhood of the Sixth District for electing me to the post of Sixth District Representative. At the same time, thank you for electing for the District a cadre of well-qualified men to assist me in leading us to the next level of greatness. I wish to encourage all of us to always keep the “MIGHTY” in the Sixth District. If we turn to the Supreme Basileus for His guidance, it will happen.
As you can well imagine, we have already begun to transition the duties of this office. There is no preparation period once in office. If you have not been preparing prior to coming in to the office, then, you are already behind. In this business, you can not afford to be behind.
This administration has given additional strength to our team by appointing Brother Eugene A. Patterson the Keeper of Peace. This office is very important and we will be asking other brothers from around the District to assist Brother Patterson from time to time. To assist the District Representative with many of the administrative duties of that office, I have asked Brother John L. Rice, Jr. to serve as the District Representative’s Administrative Assistant during my tenure. Over the next few weeks, I, in collaboration with the Executive Committee, will consider the appointment/reappointment of committee chairs and of Regional Membership Selection Process chairs. By the time we return from Birmingham, most, if not all, of the chairs will have been appointed and performing their duties.
Speaking of Birmingham, we are confident that you have already made plans to attend the 75th Grand Conclave. If you have not already registered, you missed the Early Bird deadline. However, the other registration periods are still ahead of you. Register as early as possible. The savings are greater when you do.
We will hold the Sixth District Summit Meeting shortly after we return from the Conclave. At this writing, we have not confirmed arrangements; however, we are looking at August 2, 2008 as the date. Once we have confirmed the location, the District Keeper of Records and Seal will send out the appropriate announcement. This Summit Meeting will be utilized as a planning period for the Executive Committee and the committee chairs.
Over the next few weeks, we will crystallize many of the goals we have set. Some will be new and some will be goals set by others that merit our consideration. We will be looking to the Brotherhood to help us accomplish these goals. We want to utilize our website, The Q-View and the Newsletter to talk about what we are doing from time to time.
Finally, I thank all of you who expressed your well-wishes, who offered prayers or in any way supported me. I greatly appreciate it.
